Scars
Scars form as a natural part of the skin’s healing process after injury, surgery, or illness. The more severe the damage or the longer the healing takes, the more noticeable the scar may be. Scars often appear red and raised early on but can fade over time. Factors like age, skin tension, and scar location influence how a scar forms—young skin tends to produce thicker scars, and scars over tight areas (like the jawline) are more visible. Scars that are raised, sunken, cross expression lines, or don’t follow natural skin patterns often stand out more. While many scars improve on their own, dermatologic treatments can help enhance their appearance.
