The Cutera Excel V+® is the primary laser used at Scars & Lasers, offering multiple wavelengths that can be applied individually or in combination to treat various skin concerns. Lasers operate by emitting a specific wavelength—targeting a distinct colour in the skin. The targeted area absorbs the laser energy, converting it into heat, which eliminates the area of concern while preserving the surrounding tissue.
Excel V+ effectively targets facial blood vessels, age spots, sunspots, freckles, redness from scarring, and birthmarks like port-wine stains and strawberry hemangiomas.

Precision Targeting: The Excel V+® laser delivers highly focused energy, ensuring accurate treatment of specific skin concerns while minimizing impact on surrounding tissues.
During the treatment, you will wear protective eyewear to ensure safety. Topical anaesthetic cream is applied 40 mins prior to the laser procedure. The laser is applied in sections across the treatment area, using different wavelengths to penetrate various skin depths. You may feel a mild stinging or snapping sensation as the laser pulses on your skin.
After the procedure, you will be given a cooling face mask to soothe the treated area and minimize any discomfort.
What to Expect:
A mild sunburn-like sensation is common after treatment and may persist throughout the day.
Redness and swelling are normal and can last between one to two days, or longer for more intensive treatments.
If treating brown spots, some scabbing or blistering may occur, though this is rare when targeting blood vessels.
Downtime:
Swelling may last between 2 to 5 days.
Small areas of bruising can appear and may take 7 to 10 days or longer to fully resolve.
