By combining different UltraClear modes—or choosing the one best suited to your needs—this versatile laser system can deliver a comprehensive, tailored approach to skin rejuvenation.

UltraClear® is a ground breaking innovation in skin rejuvenation. Powered by first-of-its-kind cold fibre laser technology, UltraClear® helps reverse signs of aging, addressing multiple skin conditions in one treatment to help patients look their best—quickly, safely, and effectively. Whether you're dealing with acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, or sun damage, UltraClear can help restore your skin’s natural beauty.

UltraClear® LASER RESURFACING

UltraClear Laser Coring is an advanced fractional resurfacing technique that creates precise micro-channels—sometimes called “cores”—in the skin. These tiny columns of thermal injury trigger your body’s natural healing response, promoting the formation of new collagen and elastin. In doing so, UltraClear laser coring effectively targets wrinkles, scars, and other textural irregularities without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue.

Because the laser’s intensity and depth can be adjusted for each patient, UltraClear laser coring offers a customisable treatment experience with shorter recovery times compared to traditional resurfacing methods. Patients typically notice smoother, firmer, and more evenly toned skin as the micro-channels heal and generate fresh tissue. This makes UltraClear laser coring a versatile option for those seeking significant skin rejuvenation while balancing comfort and minimal downtime.

How It Operates

This state-of-the-art laser treatment is designed to tackle a wide range of skin concerns, offering a solution for those seeking a clearer, more youthful complexion. For example, in one patient, we can treat the whole face on a mild rejuvenation setting, then go back using a deeper setting to target stubborn scars or pigmentation.
This procedure uses precise laser technology of never-before-seen wavelengths to remove the outer layers of damaged skin and promote the regeneration of new, healthy skin cells. The laser's accuracy allows for targeted treatment of specific areas, ensuring maximum results with minimal discomfort. The technology behind UltraClear not only effectively treats the surface of your skin but also stimulates the underlying collagen, leading to long-lasting improvements in skin texture and firmness. UltraClear Laser Resurfacing is unique due to its customisable settings, which can be adjusted to suit each individual's skin type and treatment goals. FAQ

Frequently Asked Question

What does the UltraClear Laser treat?

Angle Image

UltraClear is a state-of-the-art fractional laser treatment designed to address multiple skin concerns in one session. By activating your skin’s natural healing process and boosting collagen and elastin, it helps create a smoother, firmer complexion. Specifically, UltraClear can address the following issues:

  • Eyelid tightening
  • Lip line / smokers lines/ barcode line resurfacing
  • Treatment of sundamaged skin
  • Wrinkle reduction
  • Acne scars
  • Surgical scarring
  • Improvement of skin surface texture
  • Solar induced sun damage pigmentation such as sunspots (not melasma)

Thanks to its dual settings we can go superficial for pigmentation issues, and deeper for texture concerns—UltraClear delivers comprehensive rejuvenation, tackling two common signs of aging at once for a refreshed, youthful glow.

Why we recommend Ultraclear over traditional CO2 laser treatments

Angle Image

At Scars and Lasers, we offer a range of laser technologies, including CO2 lasers, which were previously recognized as a gold standard for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation. These traditional ablative lasers—whether fractional or full-field—can deliver excellent outcomes in reducing wrinkles, improving texture, and reversing signs of sun damage. However, the trade-off is a longer recovery time, with patients needing extended downtime due to the depth and intensity of the tissue heating and significant advserse side effects.

What is the downtime for an UltraClear treatment?

Angle Image

One of the biggest advantages of UltraClear™ Laser is its short recovery period. For the first 2–3 days, it’s normal to notice some redness, swelling, crusting, and mild discomfort. It’s important to follow your aftercare instructions and use the post-care kit we provide.

By days 3–5, the treated area often begins to exfoliate and peel naturally. Most patients can return to social and work activities after five days, though you may still experience mild redness, dryness, or swelling. Makeup or concealer can be applied once the skin has fully shed. Around one week post-treatment, you’ll enjoy smoother, clearer “baby” skin, although some lingering dryness may persist for a few more weeks.

Is the UltraClear laser painful?

Angle Image

The procedure is performance under topical anaesthetic cream. Ocassionally nerve blocks are required for the perioral region.

Who is the ideal candidate for the UltraClear laser treatment

Angle Image

UltraClear™ laser treatment is highly versatile, offering impressive benefits for patients of all ages, genders, and skin types. From teenagers dealing with acne scars to individuals in their 80s seeking skin rejuvenation, UltraClear™ can be tailored to meet your unique needs. It’s equally effective on fair and dark skin tones, as well as on thicker male skin and delicate areas like the eyes, neck, and body.

In particular, Dr McKerrow suggests that women may begin their UltraClear™ treatments in their 40s, before menopause, to help preserve and maintain collagen levels—optimising skin integrity as they age.

What is the recommended treatment course for facial rejuvenation?

Angle Image

We recommend a series of two to three treatments spaced two months apart for optimal results. However, many patients notice significant improvements after just one session. We offer a package price for three treatments, which can be discussed during your consultation. We also schedule a maintenance treatment 1-2 times a year, depending on your skin concerns, lifestyle and expectations.

When will I see results and how many treatments will be needed?

Angle Image

Many patients start to notice an improvement in skin tone and texture within the first week, once initial redness and peeling have subsided. Over the next several weeks, collagen production continues, leading to progressively smoother, firmer skin. Because everyone’s skin heals and regenerates at a different pace, the exact timeline can vary from person to person.

  • Number of Treatments: Depending on your specific goals, age, and skin concerns, your dermatologist may recommend a series of treatments—often spaced several weeks or months apart—for the best, long‐lasting results.
  • Maintenance: Periodic touch‐up sessions can help maintain your new collagen levels and preserve your rejuvenated look over time.
  • Individual Factors: Factors like skin type, lifestyle, and adherence to post‐treatment instructions can influence the speed and quality of your results.

During your consultation, your dermatologist will create a personalised treatment plan to help you achieve and maintain your desired outcome.
