Unlike superficial resurfacing treatments, ProDeep works at the structural level where meaningful skin repair occurs. It is particularly effective for active acne, acne scarring, hypertrophic scars, stretch marks, and dermal laxity, delivering progressive improvement through biologically driven collagen renewal. Results develop naturally over time, producing stronger, smoother, more resilient skin with minimal interruption to daily life.
Science Behind ProDeep
Targeted 1340 nm Dermal Energy
The 1340 nm Nd:YAP wavelength has a strong affinity for water within dermal tissue, allowing controlled thermal delivery into the structural layers of the skin while minimising epidermal disruption.
This selective dermal heating enables collagen stimulation at depth — without ablating or vaporising the skin surface — making it ideal for structural remodelling and scar rehabilitation.
ETHEREA MX® Prodeep was developed to bring to market what is the best, most modern and truly effective modalities in laser and light-based applications. Featuring multiple different technologies, ETHEREA MX® Prodeep seeks to meet the specific needs of doctors and patients, offering a wide variety in treatment indications including acne scars, photo-rejuvenation, fractional resurfacing, non-ablative fractional rejuvenation, tattoo and pigmented lesion removal, deep and superficial vascular lesion treatment, acne and melasma treatment, skin tightening and hair removal.
ProDeep delivers energy in a fractional pattern, creating thousands of microscopic thermal zones surrounded by untreated tissue. This approach:
The controlled thermal injury initiates a regulated wound-healing cascade that drives collagen renewal without prolonged recovery.
Thermal stimulation induces:
Over subsequent weeks and months this results in:
This is deep architectural remodelling rather than superficial resurfacing.
Sebaceous & Inflammatory Modulation (Active Acne)
In patients with inflammatory acne, dermal heating can:
ProDeep can be delivered as a standalone treatment or integrated into a comprehensive acne management strategy.

ProDeep (1340 nm Nd:YAP) is a non-ablative fractional laser that delivers controlled thermal energy into the dermis without ablating the skin surface. Compared with other non-ablative fractional lasers such as 1540/1550 nm Er:Glass, it is similarly used for collagen stimulation, acne scarring, stretch marks, and textural improvement, with minimal downtime and progressive remodelling over multiple sessions.Compared with 1927 nm thulium, ProDeep targets deeper dermal structures and is more suited to structural remodelling rather than predominantly superficial pigmentation concerns.
Compared with ablative fractional lasers such as CO₂ and Er:YAG, it offers a gentler recovery profile with less epidermal disruption, although ablative lasers may achieve more aggressive resurfacing in severe cases. For this reason, ProDeep is often used within a layered laser treatment strategy, where different devices are chosen to treat different depths and features of the skin.
The Etherea MX is a multi-platform laser system offering multiple wavelengths for skin rejuvenation, pigmentation, vascular issues, scars, and texture improvement.
The ProDeep handpiece delivers a 1,340 nm fractional non-ablative laser that creates controlled micro-columns of heat in the dermis. This stimulates new collagen, remodels scar tissue, and improves overall skin quality with minimal downtime
Yes. Controlled dermal heating reduces sebaceous activity and inflammatory signalling, supporting improved acne control. It is particularly useful in persistent adult acne or for patients seeking device-based alternatives to systemic medication.
Yes. It is effective for rolling scars, boxcar scars, and mild to moderate atrophic scars. Progressive collagen remodelling thickens and reorganises scar tissue over several months.
Yes. Fractional thermal stimulation softens abnormal collagen bundles and gradually flattens raised scars. Longstanding or firm hypertrophic scars may benefit from combination therapy.
Yes. Both early red striae and mature white stretch marks can improve. While stretch marks cannot be completely removed, they typically become smoother, thicker, less visible, and more structurally integrated.
For active acne, acne scarring, hypertrophic scars and stretch marks, 3–6 treatments spaced approximately 3–4 weeks apart are typically recommended. More severe or longstanding scarring may require additional sessions.
Most patients experience mild redness and subtle swelling for 24–48 hours. Normal activities can usually resume the following day.
Yes. Because ProDeep is non-ablative and preserves the epidermis, it carries a lower risk of pigmentary complications compared with ablative resurfacing. Careful parameter selection remains essential.
At Scars & Lasers, ProDeep is delivered within a specialist dermatology environment focused on structural skin rehabilitation — not superficial cosmetic enhancement.
Our approach includes:
We manage complex acne and scar presentations daily. Meaningful dermal remodelling requires depth of expertise, calibrated energy delivery, and long-term structural planning.
