Making an Appointment

Do I need a referral?

While a referral is preferred—especially for skin cancer or medical concerns—it is not required. You are

welcome to book directly.

A referral is helpful as it enables clear communication with your referrer and provides important

background regarding your medical history, medications, and allergies.

How do I access urgent appointments?

At Scars & Lasers, we recognize that some skin concerns – particularly suspected skin cancers, require

prompt assessment. For urgent matters, please contact the clinic directly on 09 524 5011. Our team will

make every effort to arrange a timely appointment.

Consultation Fees

Fees range from $415–$460, depending on the complexity and time required. Additional charges apply for procedures such as liquid nitrogen treatment or skin biopsies.

Medical Insurance

Many policies will cover your dermatology consultation. We recommend confirming with your insurer prior to booking—especially if you have an excess. We are Affiliated Providers for Southern Cross Health Society. Please advise reception of your insurer when booking.

Opening Hours

We are open Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm. Appointment availability varies by specialist.

Cancellation Policy

We offer SMS reminders prior to your appointment. If you need to cancel, we require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.

• Late cancellations (within 24 hours) or non-attendance will incur a $150 cancellation fee.
• If this fee is unpaid, you will not be eligible to book further consultations until settled.

Thank you for your understanding and support of this policy, which allows us to offer timely appointments to other patients.

ACC Consultations

If your skin condition or injury is ACC-related, you must have an active ACC claim number before your appointment (this starts with 100…) The consultation fee for ACC-related cases is $525, which includes: - A full assessment - Clinical photography - Completion of required ACC documentation (ARTP form) If ACC accepts your claim, they will notify you directly. Please inform us as soon as possible so we can proceed with your treatment plan as outlined in the submitted protocol.

Please note: The consultation fee of $525 is payable on the day. This fee is non-refundable, regardless of whether your ACC claim is accepted or declined.

We offer 8 on-site car parks, and street parking is also available nearby.

Maximising Your Appointment

To get the most from your consultation: - Prepare a brief list or bullet points on your phone about your skin concerns. - Communicate your concerns clearly to help us prioritise your treatment needs effectively. - Arrive at least 10 minutes early to allow time for paperwork and navigation. - If you’re running late (more than 5 minutes), please call us. If you're too late, we may not be able to see you and a $150 fee will apply.
